HRC (Honda Racing) × Ampace Pioneers Electrification in Elite Motorcycle Trials

At the 2026 FIM Trial World Championship (TrialGP), the Honda Montesa RTL Electric delivered an impressive performance powered by Ampace high-output cell. Known as the "F1 of Motorcycle Trials", this top competition only features 15 to 18 skilled riders per round.

Rough and steep tracks have long made gasoline motorcycles the only choice for this event. All that changed in 2026. HRC and Ampace became the only factory team running electric motorcycles for the entire top-tier season, achieving a historic breakthrough for race electrification. Electric and gasoline motorcycles compete together with the same scoring rules. The electric racer scored points in its first race and performed reliably on the most challenging courses.20260616-085355.jpg

A Game-Changing Alliance for Electric Trials Racing

This collaboration has brought electric technology from lab tests to professional races. It proves electric motorcycles can compete equally with gasoline models, even in extreme riding conditions.

Making history as the first electric bike to earn points at TrialGP, it took 6th and 5th place in its debut in Motegi, Japan, and took 6th and 4th at the tough mountain track in Andorra. With 91 points in total, it stands 5th on the leaderboard and competes strongly against leading gasoline-powered teams.

Premium Cells Power Electric Performance for Extreme Racing

The Ampace cell features low internal resistance, excellent heat resistance and high energy density, making it well-suited for the tough requirements of Trial racing.

Lightweight and long-lasting, the cell improves the bike’s balance and handling. It works steadily through repeated charging and discharging all season long, delivering consistent power across the races.

HRC and Ampace have shown that electric motorcycles can thrive at the highest level of racing. Going forward, the two teams will keep exploring the potential of electric powertrains, and help the off-road motorcycle industry become more powerful and eco-friendly.
